There is very exciting news today - our website, DecisionPoint.com, is merging with Stockcharts.com! As part of that merger, I'm starting this new blog to help both DecisionPoint members and StockCharts members learn about how to use DecisionPoint features together with StockCharts features and get the best of both worlds.
For those who don't know about DecisionPoint.com, let me tell you about it.
DecisionPoint.com was created back in 1992 by Carl Swenlin (my father). It initially started as an old AOL message board but soon morphed into a website. DecisionPoint.com quickly built a reputation for precision charting, great market timing signals, and a wide range of unique market indicators. In 2001, they partnered with Stockcharts.com in a deal that allowed DecisionPoint.com to use original SharpCharts technology to create the charts on the DecisionPoint.com website. During the rest of the 2000's the site continued to grow until, by 2010, it had over 700 high-quality, unique charts and indicators for DecisionPoint.com members. And now, today, after over 22 years since its inception, DecisionPoint.com is making an important move onto Stockcharts.com.
As I noted above, I'm Carl's daughter, Erin Heim. For those of you who do not know me, let me fill you in. I helped with the transition of Decision Point from a Message Board to a paid website back in 1997. I managed all aspects of customer service until 2002 when I developed an interest in the content of the site, not just the management of it. It isn't surprising as I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Southern California and a Master's degree in Information Resource Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology.
So in 2002, I began my study of technical analysis by engaging in an apprenticeship to Carl, who helped me build a solid foundation in the DecisionPoint Analysis Approach.
I cannot wait to begin introducing you to this unique method of analysis on the StockCharts.com platform. As a daily contributor to the DecisionPoint.com Blog since 2009, I know firsthand the limitations of our previous site and the incredible potential the new tools on StockCharts.com provide!
For our DecisionPoint subscribers, I want you to know, "we are in it together". I'm still figuring out how to use DecisionPoint.com features in this new environment. Additionally, I'm helping to transition all of our familiar and loved features on DecisionPoint onto the StockCharts.com website. It is a learning process for all of us and will be a great 'teaching moment' as I relate what I have learned and how it can be used to help improve our analysis techniques which should ultimately help us with investment decisions.
Some of the DecisionPoint.com features and new features that will be appearing soon on StockCharts.com include:
• ChartSchool articles about all of the DecisionPoint indicators. Over 20 new articles on each of the various DecisionPoint indicators, indexes and analysis techniques.
• The "DecisionPoint Trend and Condition Chart Gallery" that contains the most popular charts that we review daily in the DecisionPoint.com Blog.
• "DecisionPoint ChartPacks" - a collection of ChartPacks containing all of the existing charts on the current DecisionPoint.com website.
• "Unique DecisionPoint Scans and Alerts" - ways for you to add the power of DecisionPoint's indicators and signals to your custom scans and alerts. (I am particularly jazzed about this new feature!)
• And much more! We are still brainstorming on ways to best incorporate DecisionPoint.com's huge collection of content onto Stockcharts.com.
The time line for adding these additional features has everything in place by the end of March (hopefully sooner). Some of the items listed above are very close to being completed right now - for instance the ChartSchool articles should be up sometime next week. The DP Chart Gallery is also close to complete. Watch the "What's New" area of the Home page for the latest additions and read more about them here in the DecisionPoint blog on Stockcharts.com.
So a hearty "welcome" to DecisionPoint.com subscribers and a big "hello" to current Stockcharts.com members! I welcome your feedback and comments as we embark on this exciting new journey.
Best,
Erin
